Howie Thomas has been a Certified Journeymen Farrier (American Farriers Association) since 1996 and has spent 15 years competing in Farrier Competitions in Alberta, Washington and throughout British Columbia.

In 2008 he became a AFA Certification Tester for the AFA certification program and continues to travel to Farrier conventions and clinics. Together with his apprentice, Carrie Daviduk, he provides farrier and shoeing services in the mid-Island area from Nanaimo to Qualicum. Howie specializes in providing basic proper and correct shoeing learned over many years.

Today he is also kept very busy developing and maintaining his and Jennifer Payne’s 25 acre Pyramid Stables Equestrian Center and providing in-house farrier services for all the resident school and boarded horses.

Carrie Daviduk

Carrie Daviduk, farrier, works on shoeing a horse

Carrie Daviduk is a 5th year graduate of the Farrier program at Kwantlen College University. She has over 3 years experience apprenticing with Howie Thomas and also a year of working with several Farriers on the lower mainland. Carrie currently works with Howie 3 to 4 days a week and is also taking on new clients and building her own farrier business, Carrie Daviduk Farrier Service. She lives on her farm in Cedar and enjoys trail riding with her 3 horses.
