ABOUT CONNIE

Connie Kuramoto has been growing gardens since she was a young girl.  She studied Botany at the University of Massachusetts, then made her way out west and started gardening on Vancouver Island in the mid seventies.  Along the way Connie collected experience in market gardening, floral design, and greenhouse work, and then went back to school at Malaspina College, which is now Vancouver Island University.  She quickly scored the work study job in the college greenhouses, then the summer student job, and ended up serving at the college as a technician and instructor for over twenty years.

After her retirement Connie started to teach for Gaia College, which is a private college that specializes in Organic Horticulture and offers an Organic Land Care Diploma.  Gaia offers courses throughout BC, and in Alberta, Ontario, and the Yukon.  Connie is currently teaching an Organic Master Gardener Course at Kwalikum Secondary School as part of their Sustainability Program. Connie also does gardening work and garden  consulting,  and hopes to write a garden book in the very near future.
